Oh yes, we will be back for more.  Stay tuned.  Details forthcoming.

Please join me in welcoming the newest sponsor to Gnome Fest 6 - New Belgium Brewery (http://www.newbelgium.com/).   New Belgium will be providing our liquid refreshements for Friday night in the name of
Fat Tire

and Skinny Dip

And it’s not to late to join in the festivites.  Come out to Levis Trow Mounds and you can register on site for $40.  Fee includes 2 full days of trail passes, but our over the calf woolie socks are on a first come first served basis. See everyone in one weeks time!

In the advent of receiving the photo below it would be completely unjust not to honor such dedication, hence, we are extending pre-registation until Sept 2nd, 2009.  So click the link above or click the link below and register you and all your friends for Gnome-Fest 6.  Btw, the socks this year just might be tall enough to cover up such work should the wearer ever decide to…..just sayin’.  Rates go up after the 2nd and you may not be able to get any socks, so register today!

  • - Large Reinforced Heavy Duty Trash Bags - the park staff will have our garbage removed from a central location.
  • - Beer - I just didn’t want to list beer first.
  • - Beer for the Beer Pot-Luck.  Bring a 6-pack of your favorite local brew to toss in the kiddy pool.
  • - A veg dish to pass at Saturday’s Veg/Vegan feast and cook-off.
  • - Beer to enter in the Homebrew contest.
  • - All your car camping stuff*
*especially the camp chair~stratolounger~loveseat arrangement, with cupholder.
  • - Night riding gear - Don’t forget Sept can either be really warm, really cold, really wet, and sometimes all 3 at once.  Also, it gets dark out there, so don’t forget your lights!
  • - A costume for the mini-bike death race.  It can never hurt to sway the judges with some flashy duds.  And there’s a gal in charge this year, guys.  Show ‘er what you got (but not too much, please, you can’t re-live the past).

Are you ready for Gnome-Fest?  These people are.

Who knew MN was such a global spreader of Gnome-Fest Love?

And off to get some Gnome Brew.

I love it when things come together, but what’s even better is when you get surprises along the way.  My hat is off once again to trail steward Steve.  Keep up the great work and I’m looking forward to kicking back a brew with you at GnomeFest6.

The minds behind GnomeFest Six all met the other night in what could only be explained as complete and utter euphoria.  It was like hitting the trail where instead of pounding out pedal strokes all you had to do is pump your way through.  It was like the sounds of solo night ride deep under the canopy where you swear someone or something is chasing you with every stick you cross and leaf that falls.  It was like the most perfect 80’s power love ballad as White Snake moved from one riff to the next while you sat in mom’s basement munching on her Cheetos with a glass of Zima (you stocked up before going off the market).  Yes it was if we had just stoked the Friday night camp fire with another log as guests continued to arrive late into the evening.  Please pass me another.  To say we’re excited doesn’t even put it in the right magnitude.  And what’s not to be excited for?  This event is set to take center stage in 3 months and there’s a lot to anticipate.

First and foremost, meeting up with some of your friends you’ve gotten to know from across the country for the last 5 years and making new ones.

The trails!  Last year we moved the event to Levis Trow Mounds and it was an overwhelming success.  The trails offer a little bit of everything: rocks, singletrack, sand, bridges, exposure, and some beautiful vistas across the valley.  Who knew Central WI had this to offer?  We thank you for sharing and letting us come and play.

Kiddie pool/s full of beer.  It’s amazing the selection of beers riders bring to share with everyone.  Grab a local 6-pack or some of your home gnome brew, toss it in the pool, and see what fun you can find.

Potluck action galore.  After a hard earn race/ride across the trails on Saturday afternoon, there’s nothing better then cooking up a feast and sharing a plate with everyone else.  Oh and don’t forget the veggie cook off; I’m sure the essence behind ”I can’t believe it’s not butter” will be said more then once.

Do I really need to say anything about the Figure-8 Death Matches?  This part of the event just takes on a life of its own.

Sponsors this year are really stepping up with us to make this event better then ever as well.  We already have commitments from Bike Planet, Cars-R-Coffins, The Hub, Behind Bars, Kickapoo Coffee, Ernesto Bike Lube, Harlot Clothing, Fat Tire Guides, Bens Cycle, Surly Bikes, Twin Six, Urban Velo, and more being added everyday!

Thanks to all that have registered already and if you haven’t click the link above.

The weather has been absolutely beautiful lately.  The long hard winter has turned into a most enjoyable spring and what a better way to enjoy spring then a day in the dirt.  The founder of the MTB Trails at Levis-Trow….The current and reigning trail stewardship champion and the God Father of Levis Trow…..Mr. Steve Meurett just informed us that this coming Sunday May 24th is a trail work/ride day at Levis Trow.

Levis Mound (Wisconsin) Work Day
When: Sunday May 24th.
Time: 9:00am
Where: Levis Mound Trailhead
What: Slight re-route of lower Porkey Point and Toad Rd and Cliff Hanger and other trail re-hab as needed.

Other? Ride before or after, bring refreshments? Grill out later in the day?
Post up!
If you can make it, please post on the Yahoo group page (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LevisMound/post) or drop an email (smeurett@yahoo.com)
Thanks!
Steve

So grab your all your friends and trusted steeds, some grillables, and head over to Levis-Trow this Sunday and work to make Gnome-Fest 6 even better.  Heck perhaps you can begin memorizing some of the trails for future use.  Just sayin’.  Btw, new trailwork was done on Cliffhanger!  Go ride.  Go ride now.

A few have inquired regarding family registration for GF6.  As you’ve probably have noticed it has already sold out!!  That’s right, GF6 is just that good.  If you are part of a family, whether by choice or not, and all members are riding the trails, all members must register.  However, if your husband is pregnant and will be acting as your your sober and presumably better-half and not riding the trails, for insurance purposes, etc we still need to register your husband, however, it will be at a reduced rate of $15.  As such your husband will not receive any of the GF schwag such as socks, etc, but extras pairs are still available to purchase during the normal registration process should he really want some…..and why wouldn’t he; they are undeniably awesome!!  If you are one of these situations, or perhaps something similar, please contact us at gnomefest6@gmail.com so we can add each of those non-riding members to our list with a note saying the additional $15 for each will be paid on site.

“What about my kids?”  If your children are going to be riding the trails they must register through the normal proceedure.  If your kids are attending, but not riding the trails, and are not of cage-driving age they are FREE!!!  If your children are of driving age and are not riding, tell them they have to ride and go register them.  Ok, ok, ok, they too will be $15, but no schwag and we’ll probably volunteer them for a variety of tasks, like helping us find that left-handed smoke shifter.  Oh yeah, please email us at gnomefest6@gmail.com so we can add your children to the list that are not riding.
